Jer Thorp, “Living in Data”

Big data’ is more than numbers and formulas. Within each data point is a story about humanity and culture. National Geographic Fellow and data artist Jer Thorp helps us understand our evolving relationship with data by creating vibrant artwork using billions of data points that touch on everything from economic trends and ethics to social justice and technology. In his presentation “Living in Data” at NC State on 1/30 at 6:30 p.m., Jer will reveal what we could never see in big data, all with the quirky charm and enlightening intellect that has earned him acclaim as the most-respected data artist in America.
