Summer Serve & Learn Programs

Girls Empowerment Camp 2017           Community Health Evaluation 1            Community Health Evaluation 2

Ghana Health and Education Imitative (GHEI) Summer Serve and Learn (SSL) volunteer programs offer participants the chance to be immersed in a rural Ghanaian community and work alongside local staff members in support of GHEI’s year-round health and education programs.  Volunteers are given the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in cross-cultural communication, project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and community outreach.

For Summer 2017, we will be offering three sessions: two in Community Health Evaluation and one in Girls’ Empowerment. All three GHEI programs provide volunteers to build skills in: Cross-cultural communication, and  assuming a key role on a cross-cultural team, working alongside local and international counterparts to achieve a common goal;Project planning and implementation in a low-resource environmentInternational experience working with a grassroots, community driven NGO.

All sessions will provide food and accommodation for volunteers, cultural exchanges and group discussions on pertinent topics. Volunteers will also travel to some of the most stirring sites in Ghana: the bright, bustling and historic city of Kumasi, the chilling legacy of Cape Coast, and of course, the rural life at GHEI’s base of operations in Humjibre. Please see the website for more information: http://www.ghei.org/summer-serve-and-learn-1
