Departmental Graduation – May 12th

Spring graduation candidates,

There are TWO graduation ceremonies. The departmental ceremony will be on FRIDAY, MAY 12th at 2:30PM in the Stewart Theater in Talley. The univeristy wide ceremony will be SATURDAY, MAY 13TH at 9:00am (graduates line up at 8:30am) in PNC Arena.

Both ceremonies require you to be wearing a red NC State cap & gown.  Information about announcements and graduation robes can be found here https://studentservices.ncsu.edu/your-degree/graduation/

There is NO guest limit for EITHER ceremony this year. There are NO TICKETS for either ceremony. You may bring as many friends and family as you like.

When you arrive for our departmental ceremony, graduates should look for the check in/line up area on the 2nd floor of Talley. Your guests can proceed to the auditorium to find a seat, doors to the theater will open at 2:00pm. Graduates will sit in the middle section of seating at the very front. Guests will be seated around them. Graduates will enter the theater by coming down one center aisle and exit by the other. All seats in Stewart Theater a great seats – everyone will be able to see! (Additional day-of details coming in April).

RSVP – Even though there is no guest limit and/or tickets, we like to know who plans to attend.  Please email eeseilin@ncsu.edu and let me know if you expect to participate in the departmental ceremony so I can reserve enough seating at the front for all of our graduates. Please RSVP by Monday, April 17th.

GOWN DONATION — a few years ago we began a gown donation program for undergraduates.  We have about 5 gowns that are available to borrow on a first come, first serve basis.  If you are interested in borrowing a departmental gown, email me your height ASAP and I will let you know if we can loan you one. Likewise, for those of us who purchase a cap and gown, please keep us in mind after the ceremony, future graduates will appreciate your donation.

DIPLOMAS — Diplomas for May graduates will be mailed out in late June to early July.

WORST-CASE SCENARIO — Most of you do not have a summer/fall enrollment appointment because the University assumes this is your last term.  If there is ANY CHANCE you will not pass a degree requirement and will need to register for Summer or Fall courses, I urge you to do so now while there are still ample open seats.  If the worst-case does not come true, it’s easy to drop your schedule.

Let me know if you have questions! Don’t forget to let me know whether or not you plan to attend.
